I am looking for any case studies or articles based around campaigns used in towns to reduce contamination into the different kerbside bins.
It doesn't matter what stream of waste, I am interested to see if anyone has used CBSM for this issue.
The article must contain the results for their campaign and outline the benefits and barriers they've established and how they came to get those barriers and benefits.
Also I am concerned that if no one else has previously done this I will have to survey, this is day 2 of me trying to utilize CBSM and I haven't even scratched the surface of only step 2! If you have any advice on how I can avoid this in the future please let me know.
Many thanks.

Hi Fiona - You may already have found what you were looking for, but I can recommend at least one CBSM-based campaign to reduce contamination from a Seattle, Washington based consulting firm, C+C. Here is a brief overview: http://cplusc.com/portfolio-items/waste-management/
You could reach out to C+C to get more details, I've seen them give full presentations on this and other similar recycling contamination reduction campaigns, and they might be open to sharing those presentations with you.
There are also some case studies on the Tools of Change website, including this one from Bankstown, Australia: http://www.toolsofchange.com/en/case-studies/detail/687
My office did a city-wide CBSM-based campaign when we changed our residential compost guidelines to include food along with yard waste a few years ago. We worked to get people to put food waste in their compost bin rather than their trash. If that's of interest, I'd be happy to share it with you.
I had a lovely visit to Ballarat last year, and would be happy to connect and offer any suggestions and lessons learned from our experience here in Portland.
