Seeking literature on which benefits of curbside food scrap recycling or composting most resonate with people. Trying to narrow down a long list...

Is your audience of teenagers a requirement of the campaign?

Unsecured Vehicle Loads

Is anyone aware of any social marketing research around unsecured vehicle loads? The environmental connection is that unsecured loads lead to roadside litter. Thanks!

Sure, it increased recycling tonnage during the campaign... but was it a lasting behavior change? Did they evaluate again after 6 months or a year?

Anne-Sophie,
Do you have any of Doug McKenzie-Mohr's books? He cites many psychological studies that would help back your point.

Re: Research and Ideas for Reuse Campaigns

Cassandra,
My first thought it that there may be other behaviors you could promote that would better help you reach your targeted environmental goal (less paper used for class texts). An example of one could possibly be "students read texts digitally instead of printing."
You will first want to compare these behaviors against each other in terms of impact, probability, and penetration. Next, you will want to research the unique benefits and barriers of the selected behavior/s within your student population. Only then will you be able to choose a strategy that would best promote the desired behavior.
I would encourage you back up from choosing a strategy (reuse box) and do more research before diving in!
Good luck!
